"Roots Runnins...In de mix..."

Greetings to all. I am deBongoman, coming to you live and direct from St. Paul, Minnesota...

"Cool-Runnins."

I've created this blog to network and communicate with people involved in the progressive, forward movement of the Caribbean community -- culturally, economically and socially.

As a broadcast journalist, I've been involved in the media (television and radio) for more than 30 years.

What is "irie media?"

Irie Media is positive journalism.

I look forward to the dialogue and communication I hope to inspire with Roots Journal.

I love the idea! Can't wait to get the dialogue started.

How is tourism being affected by the recession? Just curious to get your take on it.

Thanks for writing, Kezaezy.

Here's my take: Even though tourism is very important to the Caribbean economy, I think we need to try to get back to our cultural heritage and redevelop such tings as farming and fishing.

Having said that, I'd like to see more effort put into historical preservation. This can only increase our cultural assets... which is always good for tourism.

Finally, I'd like to see the Caribbean promote and market itself as one Caribbean package: So, rather than each island going its own way, we create a "Caribean collective," so to speak... combining our resources.
